LU-10 Yuji
LU-10 Yuji (魚際) is a point on the Lung meridian. In TCM theory it is described as influencing the channel's qi, and it is traditionally used in the context of the whole pattern rather than as a stand-alone remedy. This page explains how to locate it, what the tradition says about it, and how to press it safely.
Location
At the midpoint of the first metacarpal on its radial side, at the junction of the red and white skin of the thenar eminence.
How to find it
Look at the fleshy pad at the base of the thumb. The point is halfway along it, where the skin color changes.
Traditional functions
- Ying-spring point of the Lung meridian
- Clears lung heat
- Benefits the throat
Traditional uses
- Sore throat and hoarseness in traditional practice
- Cough with heat
- Feverishness
- Thumb and hand tension
How to press it
Press with the opposite thumb for about 1 minute, or rub the thenar pad in small circles.
Acupressure is generally a gentle practice. Use the pad of the thumb or finger, start with light pressure, and increase only to a comfortable level. A mild ache or warmth is common; sharp pain is a signal to ease off.
Safety
Avoid pressing over cuts, eczema, or broken skin on the hand.
How this is viewed today
