LR-2 Xingjian
LR-2 Xingjian (行間) is a point on the Liver meridian. In TCM theory it is described as influencing the channel's qi, and it is traditionally used in the context of the whole pattern rather than as a stand-alone remedy. This page explains how to locate it, what the tradition says about it, and how to press it safely.
Location
On the dorsum of the foot, between the first and second toes, proximal to the web margin.
How to find it
Slide a finger between the big and second toes toward the ankle until the webbing ends. The point is in the depression there.
Traditional functions
- Ying-spring point of the Liver meridian
- Clears liver heat and calms the spirit
- Benefits the eyes
Traditional uses
- Red, irritated eyes in the traditional description
- Irritability and anger
- Headache with heat
- Insomnia with restlessness
How to press it
Press with the thumb for about 1 minute per foot, or rub gently between the toes.
Acupressure is generally a gentle practice. Use the pad of the thumb or finger, start with light pressure, and increase only to a comfortable level. A mild ache or warmth is common; sharp pain is a signal to ease off.
Safety
Avoid pressing over cuts or fungal infections between the toes.
How this is viewed today
LR-2 is used in small trials for eye strain and stress-related symptoms. Evidence is limited.
